The 9th and final event of the MSC Carpet Cup was again held at the Årsunda track in central Sweden. The track was constructed in a large sports hall, so there was lots of room for a long speedy carpet course. The best drivers from the series joined for this last and deciding race in 27T (Stock) and 12T (Modified) classes.

Right from the first qualifying round it was XRAY up at the top in both Stock and Modified. Niklas Flink from Falun, who at this point was leading the series with 2 points, took the TQ which he made even stronger during the following rounds. His last two rounds of qualifying were simply flawless… all lap times were within a small range of 0.3-0.4s per lap and he really put down all power he could in the perfectly-balanced FK05 chassis. So TQ he was.

In Modified I never had any trouble during qualifying, I just had to make sure not to make any big mistakes to take TQ. I improved my time through all rounds and in the end the car was flying when the traction had come up. The carpet on this track is a little off so the car needs more steering than usual to be fast. This was not a problem; all I did was take out two screws from the front part of the chassis and put thicker oil in the rear shocks. The car was now perfect. Niclas Nilsson put on a good performance and qualified 4th with his T2. He used an almost identical setup to me.

The Finals day started off fine with a win for both myself and Niklas during final practice. The Finals however became rather exciting when both Niklas and I had problems in the first round. Niklas got hit by a backmarker which caused damage to his motor. In my Final, a cell in my battery pack died so I had no power at all! We had to cheer up and focus on the upcoming finals. Niklas put on his good old cruise control and made no mistakes so he could win the last two finals. Same for me which meant XRAY had taken a double win again!
Two TQs – two wins – Two best laps. Jörgen Landblom had a good weekend and finished 3rd in Stock with his FK05 as well.
